Dorsten trainee campus

Learn like an apprentice live like a student!

More than 63.000 Apprenticeship positions remained vacant in Germany in 2021. Many companies struggle every year to recruit trainees. The city of Dorsten is aggressively tackling the issue:

Companies in the city bordering on the Münsterland and Ruhr area cannot fill 45% of the training places. The problem? Many young people between the ages of 18 and 25 are turning their backs on the city. The proportion of school leavers with a high school diploma is also above the state level. So how will the city get young people interested in training in the future?

With exactly this question, the Economic development in Dorsten deals. The solution: a trainee campus. A concept in which trainees live like students and learn like trainees. On campus, the trainees not only have the opportunity to live and network, but also to learn everyday skills. Courses are designed to provide answers to the following questions, for example: How do I do my tax return? Which insurances should I take out? How do I cook healthy? - This is how the attractiveness for training places in and around Dorsten should be increased.

The trainee campus also promotes the attractiveness of dual training. In addition, university doubters and high school graduates can also be won as a new target group. The trainee campus is a building block to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.
