€1.000 for more equal opportunities

At the beginning of 2023, we reached over 1.000 followers on LinkedIN. To celebrate the day, we came up with something special: We drew one person from the last 100 followers who was allowed to decide where we as the matrix group would donate €1.000 to. In an interview, Yvo Wüest, winner of the draw, told us where the donation should go.

Dear Mr. Wüest, thank you for taking the time for this interview. Before we talk about winning the raffle you won, please tell us about yourself as a person.

I originally come from linguistics, studied translators/interpreters, Spanish and English and also worked for around six years in international cooperation in Latin America, with a focus on the Caribbean and Andean countries. For more than 20 years I have been working as a trainer in adult education with a focus on didactic reduction and adult education.

And now for the raffle: Of course we are very interested, where should matrix donate €1.000 and why did you choose this organisation?

The donation should go to the organization Arbeiterkind.de go. This organization works for educational equity. She works with a large network of over 6.000 volunteers who are organized nationwide in many local groups. Their goal is to have students from families without university experience be the first in the family to study. So it's about support, it's about coaching on the way from starting a course of study to successfully completing one's degree to a successful career start. From my point of view, this is very valuable work. It is my pleasure to support this work with this contribution.

Do you have points of contact with Arbeiterkind.de?

There were people in my circle of friends and network who have already told me that they have been accompanied by this organization. And I myself am also active in the field of transculturality. It is about people with migration experiences. In Switzerland, too, I have experienced that it is helpful when you get support when entering a vocational training system or university, from people who have known the system for a little longer, are familiar with it, and perhaps also have connections and assessments that you can share.

Last but not least, why are you following the matrix LinkedIn account?

I saw posts that piqued my curiosity. I have a broad network, I also moderate three different specialist groups on LinkedIn and see contributions from organizations and individuals there. And if I'm interested, I follow and sometimes I unfollow too. But I made my decision about the matrix and I'm sticking with it because I'm really interested in this range of topics.

Thank you for taking the time for this interview.
