Internship blog from Ceyda: Teamwork instead of lone warrior
Assuming responsibility, working on tasks consistently, presenting results - is working life the way Ceyda imagined it? In the article she tells how her ideas and wishes have developed.
I've been working at matrix for a little over two months. Two things are still under-changed: On the one hand, I'm still not a morning person and, on the other hand, I still enjoy my work very much. Apart from that, a lot has happened so far. In my last blog post, I expressed the wish to have a little responsibility and that is exactly what happened. And even if I learned how to take on responsibility through my studies, it is something different in working life. At university I am responsible for myself and my work only affects me. In my work life, however, I work in a team. We plan together and the success of the projects depends on the work of several people.
Textwriting? Not as easy as it sounds
My task in the past few weeks sounded very simple at first: "Find a topic that you want to write about and which you can examine from different perspectives."
No problem, I thought. Pick out the topic, write the text and you're done. But I clearly misjudged myself. Writing contributions is the same as taking part in modules at the university: preparing, performing and reworking - in other words, very extensive. As a first step, I started looking for a topic. The first suggestion was that I should write about the topic of "student finance" - primarily BAföG. Unfortunately, this topic has turned out to be too limited.
Searching for topics as a matter of the heart
So the deliberations continued. Since Next Career also deals with students who are changing their degree and this topic affects me personally, it is very important to me to unravel the change of degree. I would like to work out the most important aspects in order to be able to help future changers a little.
So at the beginning I created a concept paper without a concept and wrote down all the sub-topics that I find interesting and important. Among other things, it should be about fears and pressure as well as about the study financing after the change; Experience reports are also incorporated. I have formulated my wishes and goals and also how I would like to implement them. I have already assigned a few contacts to the topics, but I am not as experienced in editorial work as other of my work colleagues. For this reason, I started discussions with them at a very early stage to find out how they would approach researching new texts and what tips they could give me. The exchange really helped me. Sometimes there were forms of contributions that I didn't have in mind. I also got an overview of who to address on certain topics and how I can establish contact. I have currently created an overview of which topics and contacts belong together, which type of text I would like to use where and how I should proceed in the most promising way.

I've sorted the future posts by priorities to get started somewhere. A text, or more precisely: an interview, has already been completed. It took more work than I thought to ask in-depth questions, taking into account the sensitivity of the subject. A second contribution on the subject of student finance is almost finished. In addition, I am currently in the process of finding contacts for the other sub-topics, which is unfortunately more difficult than previously thought for various reasons, but I am confident that it will still work. So I will mainly devote the last few weeks of my internship to writing the articles.

Looking back, I'm amazed at what I've learned in the past two months. It is much easier for me to write articles and I have actually developed my own writing style, which I am very happy because I do not write any texts during my studies.
I have also learned to approach tasks more confidently and also to be proud of my achievements or not to let myself be dragged down too much if something does not work the way I imagined. Because it is quite normal that some projects take up more time than you thought before, and it doesn't matter if an idea cannot be implemented and you have to rethink it.
Taking responsibility isn't as scary as it seemed to me at the beginning. I can always ask for help when I need it and ask questions when I'm stuck. Because real working life means teamwork. You want to advance together and work, unlike in your studies, not just for yourself. It's teamwork instead of lone fighters.
