Ceyda's first month: From the first-year feeling to working together
On the first day of the internship she was still nervous and excited, but now Ceyda feels like a real matrix team member. In the blog she reports on her first impressions and what she has experienced so far.
Get up early every day? That doesn't sound like me. Actually, when it comes to getting up, I'm the typical student. If I have the option, I set my classes for 10 a.m. at the earliest so I can sleep a little longer. Since I started my internship at matrix a month ago, the start of the day at 6 a.m. has been tough for me, but the thought that the work is really fun makes it a lot easier. As soon as I'm on the train, I'm in a good mood. Because instead of an internship with making coffee and running errands, new tasks, challenges and learnings await me every day.
From the initial feeling to working together
On my first day I felt like a freshman at university again: Everything was new, I couldn't do much and I didn't know what to expect in the coming weeks. I already knew my two internship supervisors, Jessica and Lara, through the video shoot for Next Career. That took some of my nervousness away from me beforehand. So on the first day I knew where to go and who to ask. Lara then showed me around and introduced me to everyone. I was welcomed right from the start and from the first minute I got the feeling of being part of the team.

My initial fear of not being able to cope with the challenges ahead quickly evaporated. It wasn't because I was a pro at everything, but because I was shown that it was okay to ask questions. The team is always ready to help and I am not expected to have mastered everything perfectly. Once our senior developer took half the morning to explain to me how our web content management system works.
In addition, I always had enough time to familiarize myself with the tasks
Numerous tasks and insights into the work of the team
When I am asked what I did in my early days, my first thought is “a lot” - and I am very happy about it. At the beginning Jessica gave me the tip "Take every experience you can take with you" and I try to heed it.
It was originally planned that my first month would be split in two. The first half was intended to allow me to get to know the work with the marketing and acquisition team and to focus my activities on that for the most part. For the second half, I was supposed to support the team around the Next Career project. Such a strict division was - fortunately for me - not implemented. I read our offers for tenders, put texts on our website - that's more difficult than it sounds -, did research and at the same time took part in appointments for Next Career and other projects.

I have now familiarized myself with our Word Press websites. It feels good that I can try out for myself how texts and images can be placed on the web. And since I work across projects, I've already learned one or two new ideas from a technical point of view: Be it the Next Career study doubt project, the matrix product "KtK" (campaign meets conflict) or new project and product ideas that the team is working on just working. One of my favorite projects is the revision of Next Career's social media presence. It was mostly about the design of the Instagram channel - I knew that at some point it would pay off to deal with it so much.
The fact that I am involved in so many meetings, projects and discussions, that my opinion is heard and valued and that I can sometimes work independently gives me the feeling that I am really making a difference and helping the team. An experience that I really appreciated in my work on the student council.
In the coming weeks I would like to deepen my work in the Next Career project. I would like to continue to focus on public relations and change management processes and maybe be assigned small projects of my own. My goal is to have done meaningful work at the end of my internship. I want to be able to advance ideas by working independently and be satisfied with my input in the end.
And I am sure that after the three months at matrix I no longer have any problem getting up early.
