Joystick holder from the 3D printer: film about medical supply store meets FabLab
People with disabilities often need individualized aids. But the production of such special brackets, handles, supports etc. is usually expensive and time-consuming. So how about if manufacturers could use modern techniques like 3D printing?
In the Emscher Lippe hoch 4 (EL4) project, this is exactly what matrix wants to achieve. Makers, device manufacturers and medical supply stores should work together on products here. The current film shows what that could look like about a workshop in the FabLab Bottrop - the Fabrication Laboratory - at the Ruhr-West University of Applied Sciences. There, orthopedic technicians, employees of medical supply stores and aids manufacturers designed, among other things, a joystick holder on the 3D printer.
