3.Google - Google+ dies, Google awakes!

While Google+, Google's failed social media platform, is about to close, Google is slowly sneaking up on much bigger plans (MarketingimPott | Google: https://www.marketingimpott.de/blog/trotz-google-plus-pleite-wie-sich-google-zur-social-media-plattform-mausert/).
It is important to recall the following information: Google is the largest search engine in the world, YouTube the second largest - and both belong together! Almost all smartphone users who have an Android phone set up a Google account.

YouTube usage 2018

Google is creeping into the social media arena with many other features and products. Two concrete examples that everyone uses are Google Maps and MyBusiness profiles. With Google Maps there is not only the option of navigation, but also of search. And it is precisely here that important services that scream for social media are being expanded: Reviews and other user-generated content. Users share their experiences with companies and institutions online - mostly on Google Maps. It is not uncommon for doctors or other service providers to be selected or not. Via Google MyBusiness, companies can also publish articles and insert all the information that potential interested parties need. The possibilities here expand almost monthly. It is now also possible to place events here and to follow companies.

The big step in which Google evolves from the search engine to a model like WeChat has already done in China is imminent.

Our advice: Don't forget that Google is a data octopus. But be aware that you can effectively reach every target group here and not, not be present.

4. The Dystopia - The flood on social media brings people back to the real world

The headline is maybe a little clickbaiting. But there is actually a lot going on here. Many people withdraw completely from social media. Some because of data protection, others because it takes up too much time. For the majority of the younger generation, on the other hand, a total amalgamation of the digital and real world is creeping in. It is becoming more and more natural to do things together in the real world and to interact on the social platforms in parallel. 'Pokemon Go' showed how addicting this can be. Tons of people with smartphones stood next to each other and talked about their latest find in the interactive game. The question here is no longer whether this merger will take place, but how we can use it positively.

For many people, digitization also means the opportunity to raise their voices or participate in society.

Our advice: Don't force your customers to go into every platform to interact with you. Always ask: is my target group already represented here and am I now offering them added value or am I perhaps even luring them here?

In the third part of this blog you can read how programs and applications from the area of games & gamification enable new opportunities for interaction with the community.
